Too many interests.

Hi,

I¬†haven’t¬†posted in a while, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything going on. Too many things going on actually. I believe it’s time to make a priority list…

I borrowed a wacom tablet from a friend and let me tell you those things are awesome. I was thinking about buying one and he offered his to try out first. Man, it’s amazing. Very cool piece of tech.

I also have a lot of android ideas that I need to work on, but other things are taking my interests at the current moment.

I also found this 3d framework for java called Ardor3D. You can find it here. Even though it’s still pre-1.0, it’s got a ton of capabilities already with examples galore! So needless to say, I’ve got some uses for this brilliant piece of software. And did I mention it’s open source?!

And if that’s not enough, an idea of an Xbox 360 game idea slipped into my head the other day… Basically a cartoon shooter. So this idea has lead me into the realm of real-time deformable rigid-body techniques. In other words, destructible environments. My research has pulled up several publications about the topic for very interesting reads. I’ll gather those links and post ‘em. So during my research escapades, I found several other publications on real-time fluid dynamics, which is another aspect of the game I was toying with.

I was also looking at some other city builder software and came upon CityEngine by Procedural Inc.. Check it out here. That program is absolutely incredible. However, there are infinite possibilities of the ‘rules’ that can be set up to actually build the city., which I am currently playing around with.

And finally there’s Blender. Blender is a free open-source, content creation suite. It has just about everything, ranging from modeling, rendering, animation, character rigging, and even as far as creating animated short films. It’s simply amazing what you can get for free these days. It’s also integrated with Bullet physics as well. Hopefully this spring I’ll start working on some models using blender for the Xbox game idea I have. It may just be too much for me to chew at one time, but who cares, might as well try.
