Here’s a gallery of all 14546 images I generated to visualize the data that was captured by NASA’s Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission or SRTM. The data that I used is known as Version 2 because it has been slightly altered from the raw data. SRTM Version 2 is “the result of a substantial editing effort by the NGA and exhibits well-defined water bodies and coastlines and the absence of spikes and wells (single pixel errors), although some areas of missing data (‘voids’) are still present.”
You’ll notice on some images have gaps in the pixels. These are places where the data retrieved from the shuttle was missing or corrupt. Version 4 has been further repaired to have all the gaps filled in by various methods. I will begin to start using the Version 4 data soon.
Until then I hope you enjoy the images below. Here’s a link the summary page of this project.
